Aerial Bunbled Cable (ABC cable) has characters of power-transmitting and strong mechanical. In comparison with bare wire, aerial bundled cable (ABC cable) boasts many advantages, such as : small span in laying, higher safe reliability, better atmosphere aging resistance property. Aerial bundled cable has the priority to be used in urban and rural transmitting construction project. 

Applications of XLPE,PVC or PE insulated  ABC Cable  

ABC Primarily used for 120 volt overhead service applications such as street lighting, outdoor lighting, and temporary service

for construction. To be used at voltages of 600 volts phase-to-phase or less and at conductor temperatures not to exceed 

75°C for polyethylene insulated conductors or 90°C for crosslinked polyethylene (XLP) insulated conductors.

 

Advantages

  1. Relative immunity to short circuits caused by external forces (wind, fallen branches), unless they abrade the insulation.
  2. Can stand in close proximity to trees/buildings and will not generate sparks if touched.
  3.  Little to no tree trimming necessary
  4. Simpler installation, as crossbars and insulators are not required.
  5. Ease of erection and stringing, less labor intensive, less construction resources needed.
  6. More aesthetically appealing.
  7. Can be installed in a narrower right-of-way.
  8. At junction poles, insulating bridging wires are needed to connect non-insulated wires at either side. ABC can dispense with one of these splices.
  9. Less risk of a neutral-only break from tree or vehicle damage, increasing safety with TNC-s systems.
  10. Significantly improved safety for linespersons, particularly when working on live conductors.
  11. Electricity theft is made harder, and more obvious to detect.
  12. Less required maintenance and necessary inspections of lines.
  13.  Improved reliability in comparison with both bare conductor overhead systems and underground systems. Insulated conductors prevent accidental contact and supply can be maintained temporarily in the event of a suspension system collapse.

1. Aluminum conductors is suitable for the common overhead power lines with the smaller distance and less  force.

2. Aluminum Stranded Conductors Steel-reinforced has such characters as simple structure, convenient to 

set up and maintain,lower cost, large transmitting volume, suitable for those special geographic conditions

like astride the river or valley. Thus it is grandly used in sorts of overhead power lines of different voltages.

or those high, extra high voltage and common power lines set up over those coastal saltwater lakes, salt sand areas and industrial districts.

 

Introduction 

XLPE insulated ABC Cable are overhead power lines using several insulated phase conductors bundled tightly together, usually with a bare neutral conductor. 

They can improves safety and reliance of electrified wire netting.

 

Construction

Phase conductors are concentrically stranded EC Grade aluminum wires, insulated with either black weather resistant cross linked polyethylene (XLPE) or polyethylene (PE). The conductor insulation is marked with longitudinal ridges for phase identification.

Neutral messengers are concentrically stranded AAC or 6201 Alloy or ACSR. Neutral messenger can either be bare or insulated, depending on ABC design.
